Position Title: Tutorial Lab Facilitator/Retention Specialist

Positions Supervised: AmeriCorps Tutors and Work-Study Personnel
Term of Position: 12 Months
Position Description:(primary functions)
Provides tutorial services in the areas of remedial reading and writing, mathematics, natural and social sciences.Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning in a related field required (education, mathematics, natural sciences, health education); Bachelor’s Degree; 2 years working in an educational environment preferred; tutoring experience preferred; experience with working with computer software required; strong interpersonal, writing, and oral communication skills required.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains and upkeeps software and modules in the tutorial lab
- Assists students in navigating tutorial software
- Acts as a liaison between full-time and adjunct instructors, athletic personnel, and students and works under the instructor’s direction, if necessary, to assist students
- Provides academic assistance to assigned students either in a group or individually
- Maintains records on each student being tutored and reports progress to the director and referring instructor
- Helps students to develop a positive attitude towards learning and studying
- Helps students develop self-confidence and reduce anxiety or fear of failure in academic work
- Assists students in achieving a better understanding of specific subject material and in improving academic capabilities in designated areas
- Helps students develop the study skills necessary for academic success
- Assists in the coordination of data collection and assessment for reporting to appropriate offices
- Assists in maintaining retention data, institutional effectiveness data, and all other IE processes in the Office of Institutional Effectiveness
- Facilitates and develops all components of the Coahoma Male Program
- Serves on department and campus committees and accepts committee assignments
- Participates in campus activities and programs
- Performs other duties set forth by the Director of Student Engagement, and the Director of Research, Assessment and Strategic Initiatives
